Introduction
..
The "Babies Are Aware Award" is our way to honor and recognize websites that respect the truth that babies are sensitive and aware from before conception. Many individuals and institutions still believe that prenates and infants are not sensitive to what happens to them, or that these experiences don't have long-term effects. I hope this award will help "spread the word."
..
Criteria
..
What we look for in websites nominated for the "Babies Are Aware Award" includes (but is not limited to):
1. Recognition that:
  • babies (from pre-conception on) are sensitive and aware
  • what happens to babies is memorable and has long-term effects
  • there are many things that we can do to prevent these early emotional wounds
  • there are many things that we can do to help heal these early emotional wounds (in all ages, including newborns and infants!)
  • the earlier we help babies and children to heal their early emotional wounds, the better!
  • 2. Development of and support for methods that prevent or remediate the effects of early trauma, including:
    • therapeutic techniques including somatic (cranial sacral, Network chiropractic, massage, osteopathy) and emotional (psychotherapy)
    • spiritual disciplines (intuition, empathy, compassion and preconception work)
    • educational methods (special ed, home schooling)
    • parenting approaches (especially Attachment, Aware and Empathic Parenting)
    • medical practices
    • birthwork (pre-conception counseling, midwifery, homebirth, waterbirth, doula services)
    • inclusion (offering daycare and other family-friendly accommodations and services)
    3. Extra credit if a website:
  • embodies these qualities with humor and style
  • boldly promote these principles in the face of ignorance and opposition
  • does outreach/education/networking to proactively "spread the word"
  • Recipients of the award receive an award icon to place on their sites. We hope that recipients will link the award icon back to the Early Trauma Treatment and Training Award Page at <http://www.terrylarimore.com/Award.html>. Recipients are also listed in the Early Trauma Treatment and Trainings "Babies Are Aware Award" page with a link to their home sites.
